Kaweah

Kaweah is a sharp, condensed, serif typeface with strong historical roots. The original inspiration for this typeface comes from text in the museum collection of Kings Canyon National Park. The details that may have been lost to inkspread, and paper quality have been magnified and exaggerated to crisp angular serifs. It is designed to be used in titles and subheads.

Source Material

The subhead from this page is the jumping off point for this project. I was drawn to the condensed serif style. As the typeface developed it relied on the basic skeleton and proportion of these letters, but pushed it's angles and details into something distinct.
